Leaf colors are at their peak in southeast Iowa right now, but the Iowa Department of Natural Resources advises they won’t be around for long. The DNR says the colors will be fading fast over this week. Maple trees in urban areas are showing bright orange, red, and yellow. Leaves are dropping, so now is the time to view them before winter arrives.

The leaf vacuum is operating in Washington and will pick up any leaves that are raked to the terrace area between streets and sidewalks. People are reminded to not put leaves in the street as it can cause drainage and traffic issues. The leaf vacuum will run through the week of Thanksgiving.
