Free COVID-19 tests will be offered in Kalona on Tuesday. The non-profit Rural Health and Safety of Eastern Iowa and Mercy Hospital of Iowa City have teamed up to offer the free testing. People who have recently experienced cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, headache, fever, fatigue, or muscle aches can receive the tests. The tests are also available for people who have been in close vicinity of people who have exhibited symptoms or who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The mobile clinic will be set up from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Mercy Family Medicine Clinic in Kalona on 3rd Street. No registration is necessary. People should wear a mask. Drive up to the trailer and stay in your car, staff will then approach you and ask screening questions. Testing will be conducted in your car.

As of Friday, Iowa had 112,555 confirmed cases of the virus with 1,617 deaths and so far 86,527 people have recovered or nearly 77%. In Washington County there have been 629 confirmed cases of the virus with 11 deaths, and 461 people have recovered.
