People who are in quarantine due to COVID-19 can still vote curbside. Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer explains people who are in quarantine due to being exposed to the virus or testing positive for it can vote curbside either early or on election day.

To vote early, the voter should drive to the courthouse and call the auditor’s office at 653-7717. Staff from the auditor’s office in personal protective equipment will then bring a ballot out for that person to vote in their vehicle.

Widmer says on election day the voter should drive to their actual polling location and they can vote curbside there. There will be signs outside each polling place indicating steps for curbside voting, including the phone number to notify staff.

Widmer says people who are doing curbside voting are strongly encouraged to wear a mask but it is not required. He says voters should open their vehicle window just far enough so that the ballot will fit through, do not roll it completely down.

He says early voting is available for all voters through Monday at 5 p.m., “There’s a couple of ways. Anyone that still has that absentee ballot that was mailed to them, they can still vote that. It needs to be postmarked however by Monday, November 2nd, and so that is one way people can still vote. The other way is absentee voting in person is still available at the courthouse.” Absentee ballots can also be placed in the drop box at the Washington County Courthouse. Early voting at the courthouse is available today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Widmer says is anyone has any voting questions to call the auditor’s office at 653-7717. To find your polling location click here.
