Scoring 45 points, the Mid-Prairie girls’ cross country team not only defended their state title, they scored the second-best team score in the history of the Iowa State Cross Country Meet in the 5k era. It is the Golden Hawks’ fourth-straight girls’ team title. They were led by Danielle Hostetler who placed first. Jaden Yoder, Mitzi Evans, and Sydney Yoder all placed in the top 10.
The Mid-Prairie boys’ team placed sixth overall in the Class 2A race.
In the boys’ Class 3A race, Washington’s Lance Sobaski placed 27th.
In the Class 1A boys’ race, the Columbus Community team finished 14th overall and they were led by Isaac Acosta who finished in 24th place. Sigourney’s Mason Moore finished 125th.
In the Class 1A girls’ race, Hillcrest Academy’s Leah Bontrager finished 52nd.
