Residents and businesses in Washington are challenged to get into the holiday spirit with two new contests coming to town. The contests will promote holiday cheer and shopping locally. The Washington Chamber of Commerce is hosting the socially distant contests and postponing the Tour of Homes for one year.
Event Coordinator Alisha Davis explains the residential lighting contest, “We’re calling it Get Lit: Outdoor Holiday Lighting Contest and we are just asking any homeowners that want to decorate their outdoors for Christmas and go crazy with their lights, and just get into the Christmas spirit to email us to get entered into the contest. We have a grand prize of $500 in free window cleaning for your whole house and gutter cleaning, and all that from Paneless Window. And then we’re going to have prizes for second and third place, too.” Homeowners need to let the Chamber know by November 13th if they’ll be participating so they can get on the official map of contestants.
Businesses in town are invited to take part in the Window Wonderland decorating contest. Businesses can decorate their windows and outdoors for the holidays, and they’ll be featured on the Chamber’s map to be judged. The winners will receive a Holiday Party in a Box for their staff. To enroll contact the Chamber of Commerce.
Those maps of participating homes and businesses will be available for $10 at the Chamber and participating businesses. The maps will include discount deals to shop locally this holiday season.
