Once the dust settles after a stinging season ending loss to West Delaware in the round of 16, the Washington football team has a lot to be proud of in the fall of 2020 including having one of the top defenses in the state.
Being opportunistic was the name of the game for the Demons, as they turned opponents over 19 times including creating six defensive touchdowns that ranks first in class 3A. Ethan Zieglowsky leads the state individually with three interceptions returned for a touchdown and other players that recorded one throughout the year included Trashaun Willis, Jacob Miller, and Lucas Kroll. A talented defensive line helped with 72 tackles for a loss that is ranked fourth led by Zayne Laws with 11. The team gave up just 83 rushing yards a night including a pair of games that were negative yards on the ground. Willis and Kroll led the Demons in tackles with 59 each.
The Demons finished 8-1 and captured their first district title since 2013.
