native-american-heritage-month-2020

Books and materials to educate people about Native American history will be featured in the window of the Washington Public Library this month. November is Native American Heritage Month. Washington Public Library Director Bryna Walker says the Library of Congress along with the Smithsonian Institute and National Archives have a website with exhibits, collections, and materials for the public, “Basically it’s just the history of Native American culture in America and just a lot of great resources, so if you’re a student whether college or high school doing a report for this month or something, it’s a great resource.”

She says people can check out materials to learn more locally, too, “We also have several print books on Native American culture – cookbooks, history books, things like that, that we will display in the window. So, if you wanted to learn more about some of the different Native American reservations in America or here in Iowa, we certainly have resources for that.”

The library is offering 30-minute express browsing of materials in addition to their contactless curbside pick-up.
