A semi hauling turkeys crashed in Henry County late Tuesday night. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:03 p.m. a 911 call was received of a semi rollover in the 2100 grid of Highway 218 near Mt. Pleasant. The semi was driven by 58-year-old Ronald Paul Brown of Keswick.
Brown was northbound on Highway 218 driving a 2009 Freightliner hauling a trailer load of turkeys. The truck went onto the east shoulder of the roadway and Brown took evasive action to try to gain control, but lost control while doing so. The tractor-trailer then rolled over. Brown was cited for failure to maintain control.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department, New London Police Department, Mt. Pleasant Fire and Rescue, Henry County Paramedics, and the Iowa Department of Transportation assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
