Iowa’s unemployment rate remains below the national rate. According to Iowa Workforce Development, in October Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.6% while the U.S. unemployment rate was 6.9%. In September 78,700 people were unemployed in Iowa and that dropped to 58,500 last month. The peak unemployment this year was 129,500 people in April. One year ago, Iowa’s unemployment rate was 2.8%.
