The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team hosted a doubleheader jamboree Monday at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. After West Branch knocked off Williamsburg in the opener the Golden Hawks took the floor against Pekin. Though the scrimmage was only a half in length and doesn’t count on either team’s overall record, Mid-Prairie scored a 44-28 victory. The Golden Hawks opened up their lead in the first quarter with a 12-2 run and were up 22-15 after the first frame. Mid-Prairie also poured in nine in a row to extend their lead in the last few minutes of the half. Carter Harmsen led the Mid-Prairie offensive attack with 14 points, Ethan Kos added 11 points. Mid-Prairie opens the season on Tuesday, December 1st when they travel to Williamsburg with the Golden Hawk girls for a doubleheader.
