In the latest information released by Iowa Workforce Development, unemployment numbers continue to improve in the Hawkeye State. Based on data released for September and October, all counties in the KCII listening area saw a decrease in the unemployment rate over the last 30 days. Washington County’s unemployment rate fell from 3% to 2.2% moving from September to October with 300 claims filed. Iowa County is also at 2.2% in October after posting a 2.9% mark in September. Keokuk and Louisa counties’ rates are each at 2.5% in October after 4% and 3.7% marks respectively in September. Johnson and Jefferson county each have a 2.8% rate after spending September with 4.3% and 3.9% rates respectively. Jefferson County saw the biggest decrease, dropping from 5% to 3.4% over the last month. The statewide unemployment rate also dipped from 4.8% to 3.6% from September to October with 58,500 Iowans filing for unemployment benefits, while the national mark fell from 7.9% to 6.9% over the same time frame.
