The holidays are here and with that the season of giving. There are many opportunities for people considering end of year giving. Millie Youngquist with the Community Foundation of Washington County shares one way people can make a gift that provides funds annually is to establish an endowment, “We would recommend talking to your person who prepares your taxes or your financial advisor, and if they have questions they could also contact me and I could explain some of these things. But it’s a wonderful way to keep giving back to your community and to organizations that you have donated to maybe for a long time, maybe your whole life that you want to see them continue. It’s been a hard year for non-profits because fundraisers and many activities just couldn’t happen. And it’s time like these that if you have income from an endowment, that’s a steady source of income and that can really make the difference.”

She says there are some tax credits available for charitable donations. For more information on how to donate to an existing endowment or how to establish one in honor of a loved one contact Youngquist or click here.
