All employees in the Mid-Prairie School District are now required to wear masks. The requirement was approved by the Mid-Prairie School Board this week. Students were already required to wear masks, which officials say have helped mitigate the effects of coronavirus within the district and keep students learning onsite. New School Board President Jeremy Gugel says the school board knows these are trying times for school staff, “These days there are not many conversations that are not centered around today’s current situation with the pandemic. So that makes every conversation critical, but also makes all of them necessary as well.” Gugel says it’s also important for the school board to listen to staff needs, “I think the big thing right now is to listen to things that they are experiencing each day and try to help bring some guidance to those things to help make their job, hopefully, a little bit simpler. I don’t think anybody has an easy job this year at all. Probably never easy, but this year is especially trying, So (we’re) just trying to listen carefully to the things that they’re seeing, that they’re hearing and be able to help them in any way they see necessary.” Gugel was voted President by the Mid-Prairie School Board earlier this month and he says he looks forward to continue serving the district in that capacity.
