The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team kicked off a new season Tuesday when they traveled to Wapello for a quadrangular with Eddyville-Blakesburg, English Valleys and the Indians. Mid-Prairie dropped two of the three duals. The Hawks got their lone win on the evening over EV by a 51-24 score. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches from Mose Yoder at 113 by fall, Dalton Miller at 126 by 9-5 decision, Owen Trimpe at 152 by fall and Josh Wallington at 220 by fall. Mia Garvey also scored an exhibition win by fall.
Mid-Prairie was edged by Eddyville-Blakesburg 42-34. The Hawks got wins in contested matches from Vinnie Bowlin at 160 by fall, Jardin Mufaume at 170 by fall, and Ben Meader by major decision at 182.
Mid-Prairie was also beaten by Wapello 50-28. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches from Ben Meader at 195 by 14-0 major decision, Josh Wallington at 220 by fall and Brodey Neal by fall at 285. The Golden Hawks are now 1-2 on the season and are home on Thursday for a quadrangular against Tipton, West Branch and New London.
