Above average precipitation was seen in much of southern Iowa last week, according to the latest Crop Progress and Conditions Report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan states that 1.5-2 inches of precipitation was observed in southeast Iowa last week, and unseasonable warmth persisted through the week with a statewide average temperature of 36 degrees, 5.7 degrees above normal. According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities Office, the largest amount of precipitation Washington received last month was .96 inches on November 25th. Washington also had a record high temperature of 76 degrees on November 10th and a record low of 19 degrees on November 2nd and 13th. The latest crop report also shows topsoil moisture condition rated 12% very short, 28% short, 58% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture condition rated 20% very short, 33% short, 46% adequate, and 1% surplus.
