Sigourney and Keota renewed their rivalry acquaintances on the basketball court Tuesday in Keota, splitting a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader. The Sigourney girls opened the night with a 54-24 win over the Eagles. The Savages got out to a quick start, leading 17-3 after one quarter and 29-9 at the half. Sigourney put the game out of reach with 13-3 run that lasted the entire third quarter. The Savages were led on the night by a trio in double figures, with Kaylee Weber posting an 18 point, 13 rebound double double. Carly Goodwin had 16 points and Joselyn Abell 10. Taylor Kindred led the Eagles with 10 points. With the win, the Savages improve to 4-1 while the Eagles drop to 1-4.

The Keota boys made it a split for the night, beating Sigourney 62-19. A hot start gave the Eagles a lead of 23-6 after one quarter and they put the game in a stranglehold with a 16-0 run that lasted the entire second frame to take a 39-6 lead into half. Keota outscored the Savages 23-13 in the second half. Luke Hammen was red hot from the floor, shooting 13 of 19 and finishing with 31 points. With the win, Keota remains unbeaten at 6-0 while Sigourney falls to 1-4.
