As families may be spending the holidays apart this year, Washington-area residents are advised of a gift idea that’s light weight to ship but does a lot of good for local businesses.
The public can purchase Chamber Bucks at the Washington Chamber office from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today and tomorrow in time to get them wrapped for Christmas day. Chamber Executive Director Michelle Redlinger says Chamber Bucks are great for those who are waiting to frequent local businesses until the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, and are gladly accepted by businesses after the holiday season ends, “I think our area businesses like them because once you get involved in a local business you realize how much it keeps the community alive, and our businesses are supporting the local athletic teams and the schools and they’re donating to nonprofits. And so they are taking a portion of their proceeds and investing it and then the taxes they pay get invested back in the community.”
Residents are also reminded they can pick up a “Get Lit” residential holiday lighting contest map and coupon book which includes local business deals for $10 at the Chamber office, as well as free maps for the Window Wonderland business lighting contest.
