A couple of Southeast Iowa football standouts will be representing their school one final time on the gridiron this summer by recently accepting their invitation to the 2021 Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Washington’s Trashaun Willis and Sigourney-Keota’s Brady Duwa are the two players in the KCII listening area so far that have accepted a bid to the annual charity event and will be a part of the South team. The Iowa Shrine Bowl is an all star game compiled of the best senior football players in the state and is an effective tool in raising money for The Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
Willis was a catalyst for Washington’s first district title in seven years and was named captain of the Class 3A all state football team by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. The senior quarterback amassed 1,430 total yards and 25 touchdowns for the Demons this year. Earlier this month, Willis received his first Division I football scholarship offer to Lamar, a FCS program in Texas.
Duwa was named first team all state as a defensive back. The senior was a Swiss-army knife for the Cobras by recording five interceptions, 30 tackles, and reaching pay dirt 12 times offensively with 831 total yards. He helped S-K to their first dome appearance since 2005.
The game is played every July at the UNI-Dome and to date has raised more than $2.6 million.
