The Riverside Volunteer Fire Department is looking for more volunteer firefighters and first responders to join their team.
Fire Chief Chad Smothers says their current number of volunteers is in decent shape, but there’s definitely room for more, “We will start 2021 with 30 members, we usually like to run around 36 to 40, so we could use another six to 10 people (that) would be really nice.”
Smothers says whether a volunteer wants to be a firefighter, an emergency medical technician, or both, all training is covered in-house and the department pays for any additional outside classes that might be necessary. Once on board, he says benefits include a pay-for-call program and a yearly stipend to help offset costs volunteers might incur in fighting fires.
Smothers says those interested can contact them through the Riverside Fire Department’s Facebook page.
