The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are ready for action again Saturday when they hit the road for Anamosa. The Mid-Prairie boys come into the day with an overall record of 5-2, they are 5-1 in the River Valley Conference after suffering their first league setback of the year Friday at West Branch to the No. 13 ranked Bears 44-41. In that game, Aidan Rath led the Hawks with 16 points. Carter Harmsen added 13. For the season, Harmsen is the leader at 25 points and eight rebounds per game. Jack Pennington leads the Golden Hawks at six assists and three steals per game.
Anamosa is 5-4 overall, 5-2 in the River Valley Conference. Last time out they fell to Camanche Friday 76-49. For the season, the Blue Raiders are led by Sam Wilt at 13 points per game and two steals per outing. Andrew Morris leads the Raiders at seven boards per contest. Trae Klatt has a team best three assists per contest. These teams met last season in Wellman with the Golden Hawks taking a 76-54 win.
The Mid-Prairie girls are 5-6 overall after falling at unbeaten, No. 3 West Branch Friday 66-29. Phelan Hostetler led the Hawks in the loss with eight points. For the season, Mid-Prairie’s scoring leader is Maddie Nonnenmann at 12 points per game. She also has a team best seven boards per contest. Amara Jones leads the team with four assists per game and Myah Lugar has three steals per outing.
The Anamosa girls are 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the River Valley. Friday they lost at Camanche 45-44. For the season the Blue Raiders are led by Madalyn Heims with eight points per game. She also has a team best four rebounds per game, three assists and three steals. These two teams met a season ago with the Hawks scoring a 71-35 win. Today’s event is a doubleheader with the girls game at 4p.m. with the boys to follow at Anamosa High School.
