A tight Southeast Iowa Super Conference battle took place in Winfield on Saturday with Holy Trinity escaping town with a 49-44 victory over the Wolves in a boys only basketball matchup.
It was the Wolves that controlled the game early leading 8-6 after one and 26-20 at the break. One quarter was the difference with the Crusaders bouncing back for a 19-10 third that led to the five-point win. Konner Wade nailed three shots from long range to lead the Wolves with 13 points and Cam Buffington added 12. Bryce Wade hauled in seven rebounds and Jacob Kongable dished out four assists.
WMU is now 4-4 on the season and host Pekin (9-1) tonight.
