WACO High School will be a hot bed of wrestling action Saturday for the annual WACO Warrior Invitational with four KCII area schools involved.

The Washington Demons will make the trip to Wayland today. In their last tournament action, the Demons finished 13th of 14 teams at the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland a week ago. Jack Kleese at 106 and Chase Greiner at 160 each finished in sixth place to lead Washington.

Mid-Prairie comes in with an overall dual mark of 11-8 on the year after sweeping a quad Thursday against Anamosa, Cascade, and North Cedar. The Hawks also had the highest area finish at the Gary Curtis Invitational in Riverside last Saturday, placing fourth led by three champions, Vinnie Bowlin at 160, Cael Garvey at 195 and Josh Wallington at 220. Wallington leads a group of five 20 match winners for Mid-Prairie this season with 28 victories. Ben Meader has 26 wins at 182, Garvey has 23 at 195, and Gannon Callahan at 285 and Mose Yoder at 113 each have 22 wins to their credit.

Highland comes in with an overall record of 3-9. They were swept at a quad at Mediapolis Thursday by Muscatine, Wapello and MEPO. The Huskies finished 10th at their Gary Curtis Invitational last weekend led by runner-up finishes for Easton Schlabaugh at 106 and Bryce Thompson at 113. The pair lead Highland on the season with matching 17-3 overall records.

WACO comes into today with an overall record of 0-12. The Warriors will have John McLaughlin at 106, Braden Spain at 132, Dalton Provino at 160 and Landan Provino at 220 in action. Joining those four teams in Wayland today will be Baxter, Bellevue, Cardinal, English Valleys, HLV, Mediapolis, Moravia, New London, Pekin, Wapello and Wayne. Action starts at 9a.m. And continues throughout the day at WACO High School.
