Getting into the win column for the first time this season was the accomplishment on Friday for the Columbus boys’ basketball team when they edged Louisa-Muscatine 35-34 in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown.
The Falcons (6-6) led 30-24 after three, but the Wildcats posted an 11-4 fourth quarter to capture the victory. Columbus shot just 28% from the floor, but got a lift from Justus Lekwa with 15 points. The junior knocked down four shots from long range. Mason Hodges added 10 points and Owen Watson hauled in 14 rebounds.
The Wildcats improve to 1-8 in the league and 1-12 overall. They get back on the court Friday at Hillcrest Academy (8-5).
