A nail biting win in front of a home crowd was what Keota boys’ basketball fans experienced on Thursday when the Eagles hung on for a 49-47 South Iowa Cedar League victory over Lynnville-Sully (9-5).
Neither team could ever take control in this one with the Eagles up 19-13 after one, but it was cut to 26-23 at half. The back-and-forth trend continued in the final 16 minutes when Keota made one final stop for the cross divisional win. Keota shot 50% from the floor with Brady Duwa making all six of his shots to finish with 14 points and six assists. Luke Hammen added 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagle girls went scoreless in the first and never found their footing in a 75-20 Hawks (14-2) victory.
The Keota boys improve to 14-1 after the win and the girls drop to 2-11.
