A Des Moines woman who was extradited from Bexar County, Texas this week for allegedly dragging a Washington police officer with a stolen vehicle, now faces charges from the State of Iowa.

According to the Washington County Communications Center, the Washington County Jail reported receiving 42-year-old Mary Bella Brooks at about 1:06 a.m. Thursday. She is also wanted on parole violation on an original third degree burglary conviction. No additional bond was issued and extradition arrangements will be made with the Iowa Department of Public Safety. A $50,000 cash bail was set for Brooks’ local charges of possession of more than five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony; failure to affix drug stamp, two counts of second degree theft, assault on persons in certain occupations with display of a weapon, assault while participating in a felony, and interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, all class D felonies; interference with official acts – inflicting bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor; and leaving the scene of an accident – causing injury, possession of a controlled substance first offense, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug, all serious misdemeanors for incidents that occurred on August 2nd, 2020.
