It was a memorable night for the Zieglowsky family on Monday when a pair of Washington brothers cracked the top five at the Southeast Conference bowling meet in Burlington.
Junior Ethan Zieglowsky started the tournament scorching hot with six straight strikes and bowled the highest game out of anyone with a 268. He then added a 183 second game to post a 451 series to claim his second consecutive runner-up finish at conference. Burlington’s Machias Perez just edged him out with a 459 two-game score. Ethan’s younger brother Caleb was also a first-team all conference selection by claiming fourth place. The freshman bowled a 211 first game and improved with a 233 second to finish with a 444 series. The brothers paced a Demon squad that placed fifth with 1857 pins. Keokuk won another SEC crown with 2968.
The Zieglowsky duo and the rest of the Demons now gear up for state qualifier on Monday at the Rose Bowl in Muscatine.
