Closed Point-of-Distribution and mass vaccination clinics were discussed at this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting.

County Public Health Administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski mentioned in her weekly COVID-19 update that as of Tuesday morning there are no residents hospitalized for the virus and the county’s 14-day average positive test rate was at seven percent. She stated that Washington County Hospital and Clinics has been administering the closed POD clinics for Phase 1B, and WCHC CEO Todd Patterson stated during the meeting that 30 doses were administered last week to various police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters. Chief Nursing Officer Andrea Leydon mentioned that her staff has contacted other county first responder agencies, and that they plan to vaccinate 120 individuals in those groups by the end of this week. Pettit-Majewski added that while the state’s decrease in COVID-19 positive percentages is excellent, public health is still advising residents to practice social distancing in effort to not overwhelm the healthcare system.
