The first Moderna COVID-19 vaccine dose will be distributed to Washington Community Schools staff tomorrow.
During a professional development day the district staff will be getting vaccinated in the high school gym. Superintendent Willie Stone anticipates 250-275 employees will get vaccinated, and each building’s staff will be vaccinated in hour-long blocks beginning with Lincoln Elementary, and then to the middle school, high school, Stewart Elementary, and St. James Catholic School. Stone adds that the transportation and maintenance staff will be grouped with Lincoln, home school assistance program staff with the middle school, and Washington Regional Alternative Program staff with the high school. Stone comments on his coordination with public health staff, “I’m working with Danielle (Pettit-Majewski) and Karri and they’ve been great to work with. We’re excited to get this going and get them in. I know Karri Fisher is going to be there to help us along with our school nurses will help give out the shots.”
The school staff is expected to get their second dose on March 19th.
