A Wellman man was involved in a vehicle wreck in Johnson County Monday morning.
According to Iowa State Patrol, at 9:19 a.m. an unnamed driver was attempting to pull a Peterbilt construction truck out of the east ditch on County Road W38 and 540th Street but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was then moved to the west shoulder with the tow cable still connected to the construction equipment. Twenty-seven year-old James H. Harter III was driving a 2006 Dodge R15 pickup truck north on W38 when he collided with the cable, causing it to ricochet into the construction equipment in the ditch. Harter was extricated from his vehicle by the Wellman Fire Department and transported by AirCare to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics (UIHC). A minor was transported by ambulance to UIHC. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
