Not only has several KCII area athletes been recognized for their work on the basketball court this winter, but also in the classroom. Seven area girls basketball players were recently named to the Academic All-State team released by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. 

Five seniors from Winfield-Mt. Union that contributed to an 18-1 season were named to the list in Jenna Buffington, Kyndal Townsley, Jami Wilkerson, Madie Anderson, and Farrah Nelson. A pair of WACO players were recognized for their academic efforts in Morgan Graber and Lindsey Roth.

To be eligible for the award, seniors must have posted a 3.85 or higher grade point average.
