Most schools at the 1A level are lucky to have one or two athletes with potential to play in college. Winfield-Mt. Union is not most 1A schools. So far, the talented Class of 2021 has had five senior girls commit to take their talents to the next level after they graduate.

Madie Anderson will stay on the softball diamond and play for Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. The senior has been dominant in the circle throughout her four years at the varsity level and last year recorded a minuscule 0.51 ERA en route to a second team all state selection. Jami Wilkerson will play volleyball at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. She was successful on 92% of her serves this past year and compiled 167 digs defensively. Jenna Buffington will play volleyball at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. After missing her junior year due to injury, Buffington came back to record a team-high 261 kills en route to an all-district selection. Kyndal Townsley will be a dual sport athlete in volleyball and basketball at Carl Sandburg in Galesburg, Illinois. She is the all time career digs and aces leader at WMU for volleyball and was a first team all conference player in basketball this winter. Kayla Edwards rounds out the college-bound athletes, as the senior will play volleyball at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. She connected on 97% of her serves and managed 223 assists this past fall.

These five seniors were an integral part to a successful year in these three sports with the volleyball and basketball teams claiming conference titles and the softball team having a fourth place league finish with almost everyone returning this summer.
