After a couple year long process, two organizations that serve Washington County have found a new home in downtown Washington.
The Washington County Riverboat Foundation and Washington Economic Development Group (WEDG) have moved into the recently renovated second floor of the Greiner Buildings’ offices housed in the former public library. Foundation Executive Director Patty Koller says this move from their former offices shared with the Washington Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Washington was started by former WEDG Executive Director David Collins around a year and a half ago, “We met with Matt Greiner up here in this space and it was concrete floor and brick walls and the glass block windows. It was a cold, kind of dreary space, but we also saw Matt Greiner’s offices downstairs and they were beautiful and he said he could create that up here.”
The new space maintains some of the original library brick and window work, with offices for Koller and current WEDG Executive Director Mary Audia as well as a conference room with technological capabilities for video conferencing and more. Audia’s happy to have Koller as an office-mate, “We’re both Washington County-focused, and as you saw on my desk I have the map of Washington County right there and we’re going to try to get one on the wall in the conference room as well so we can just keep the focus on Washington County. Plus we’re great partners with the Riverboat Foundation. I was looking back through the history of how the Riverboat Foundation and WEDG have worked together for a long, long time so it just seemed to be a natural fit.”
Audia and Koller moved into their new offices on February 1st and March 1st, respectively, and the space also includes a reception area which they hope to fill with volunteer staff soon.
