Three fire departments responded to a garage fire north of the City of Washington Thursday afternoon.
According to Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong, a resident was burning trash at about 3:30 p.m. at 2521 230th Street when the fire caught onto an unattached garage. DeLong says the garage was a total loss and there was minimal damage to the nearby house. No injuries were reported. The Ainsworth and Kalona fire departments, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Ambulance Service, and Rural Electric Cooperative also assisted at the scene.
