Senator Charles Grassley believes the increase of unaccompanied alien children border crossings was self-induced by the Biden Administration.

Grassley tells KCII that each of the last two months have set records for the overall number of immigrant apprehensions and UAC crossings. Grassley says that the U.S. should treat unaccompanied minors who have crossed the border humanely and according to law, but he says President Joe Biden invited these crossings, “I think the real wrongdoing is that they actually invited these people into the country in violation of our laws and I don’t find fault with people that want to come to America for a better life and we allow a million people every year to come in legally but we can’t invite people in, in violation of our laws and have them illegally come to the country and more or less that’s what they’ve done.”

Grassley has signed a letter along with seven other Republican Senators seeking information from the Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services including how many individuals have been detained since inauguration day, the numbers of those tested and vaccinated for COVID-19, and the duration of time individuals are in custody before and after testing.
