About eight months following their 2020 event, the Kewash Half Marathon is getting ready for what’s expected to be their biggest turnout this April.

Race Director Teri Hartzler says the event has continuously grown since its inception in 2014, and she says they’re on track to have over 500 participants for the run that includes a half marathon, 5K, and 10K. While they’ve had a shorter planning turnaround from last year’s event that was rescheduled to August because of the pandemic, Hartzler says the volunteers and runners are eager for this being their best year, “This event is one of Washington’s largest events and we are super proud to be able to host this and it is a lot of work. It takes a lot of people to make this a success. So we have been working really hard over the last several months, putting things together, and getting volunteers together and promoting the race and we feel we are really ready.”

The run will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 17th, and the KCII Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live during the event from 7:30-11 a.m. at Sunset Park. Proceeds of this year’s Kewash Half Marathon will go toward the Washington High School baseball, track, and cross country programs, Girls on the Run and Let Me Run youth programs, and the YMCA of Washington County for their youth programming. Half marathon runners this year will be capped at 350, and registration fees will increase Thursday, April 1st. A link to register is included here.
