A Texas man was arrested near Mount Pleasant Tuesday for driving a stolen semi-tractor.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report at about 11:45 a.m. from the semi-tractor’s owner who had been monitoring the location of the rig via GPS and informed authorities it was traveling through Henry County.  Mount Pleasant Police assisted sheriff’s deputies in stopping the semi-tractor at the exit 42 off ramp of Highway 218 and identified the driver as 30-year-old Sebastian Rios-Sierra of Toyah, Texas.

Authorities say during the traffic stop, Rios-Sierra attempted to get back in the semi-tractor and leave the scene. The suspect was then arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail.  The investigation determined Rios-Sierra had driven several hundred miles from his destination, had abandoned the semi-trailer and its contents, and was trying to return to Texas.

He has been charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor, and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. Rios-Sierra is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $2500 bond.
