Washington, Louisa, Keokuk, and Iowa counties all saw an increase in unemployment from January to February.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Washington County had a 4.8% unemployment rate in February compared to 4.5% in January, Louisa increased from 5 to 5.1% in February, Keokuk rose from 5 to 5.3%, and Iowa increased from 4.2 to 4.4%. Jefferson remained steady at 4.4%, Henry decreased from 4.3 to 4.1%, and Johnson decreased from 3.8 to 3.6%. All counties in Iowa saw a higher unemployment rate in February of this year compared to 2020, as Washington County had a 3.3% rate last year. Unemployment increased statewide from 3.5% in January to 3.6% in February, and decreased nationally from 6.3% to 6.2%.
