With rain in the forecast throughout the day today(04.10), the Highland Post Prom Committee “Color Me Happy Fun Walk/Run” is being delayed by one day.

Post Prom Advisor Cindy Peiffer says everything else will go as planned for the event. The course will start at the Purple Park, also known as Railroad Park, in Riverside, run the length of the trail and end back at the park. Peiffer says along the approximately two-mile course there will be five coloring stations in which colored powder will be tossed on participants on their way out and on their way back, so come prepared, “People will actually want to wear their face coverings because as they’re throwing powder, it’ll keep all the powder out of your mouth and nose, so people will actually want to wear their face coverings at this event.”

Peiffer recommends light-colored clothing to get the best effects from the powder and bring extra clothes to change into. Registration begins at 2 p.m. with the color walk/run starting at 3 p.m. Fee is $20 per person or up to $50 max per household with proceeds benefiting Highland Post Prom activities April 17th. After the run, participants will enjoy free slushies and popcorn, plus a live band provided by the Riverside Area Community Club. Peiffer says anyone is welcome to join the festivities and encourages social distancing.
