The Mid-Prairie girls track and field team traveled to Clear Creek Amana Friday for the annual Creek Classic. In the class A large school division the Hawks finished with 138 points, second in the team race behind Solon’s 182 points.
Mid-Prairie had five event champions on the night. Danielle Hostetler won double gold for the Hawks. The freshman beat the field in the 1500 in a time of 5:03.09 and bested everyone in the 3000 with a time of 10:29.33. Mitzi Evans won the 400 with a time of 58.89 seconds. Ella Gronewold was best in the high jump clearing 5’0. The Mid-Prairie 4×100 team also won their event with Amber Swart, Mitzi Evans, Maddie Edgington and Amara Jones finishing in 51.20 seconds.
There were also six runner-up finishes for the Golden Hawks including Sydney Yoder in the 800 and 3000, Tori Boyse in the discus, the 4×200 team of Swart, Alyssa McDowell, Edgington and Jones, the distance medley team of Colby Brown, McDowell, Gronewold and Ana Fleming and the sprint medley team of Edginington, Jones, Mitzi Evans and Swart. Mid-Prairie will run next on Thursday at Tipton.
