Monday night, Iowa City West showcased a meet featuring some of the best athletes in the state with their second annual Eastern Iowa Track and Field Festival. This event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but moved due to inclimate weather.
The Mid-Prairie girls had two event champions on the day with Sydney Yoder winning the 3000 in 11:05.50 and Danielle Hostetler taking gold in the 1500 with a time of 4:52.77. Other top fives for the Hawks included runner-up finishes for Tori Boyse in the shot put and discus, third for the sprint medley team of Maddie Edgington, Amara Jones, Amber Swart and Mitzi Evans and a fifth place for Edgington in the 100.
On the boys side, top finishes came from Clarke Latcham, taking fourth in the 400 hurdles and a fourth for the sprint medley team of Braden Hartley, Grady Gingerich, Will Cavanagh and Caleb Thomas. Mid-Prairie also had a top five from the distance medley team of Nathan Quinby, Thomas, Cavanagh and Jamie Stutzman.
The Mid-Prairie boys and girls will both be in action next on Thursday when the boys go to Dubuque Senior and the girls travel to Tipton.
