The Keota Community Club is planning an active 2021 after the pandemic cancelled most of their events last year.
Member Lori Hammes says the club’s mission is to promote and support the city’s residents and businesses while bringing visitors to Keota with events like the city-wide garage sales this Friday and Saturday. She says hours both days are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and maps of garage sale locations are available at County Line Mart convenience store, Smitty’s and Fiddle Dee Dee. After that, the club’s focus will be on the return of Keota Fun Days, “Those are, this year, going to be June 12th and 13th and again most things are outside so we’re planning on a number of events throughout the day on the 12th. And then Sunday the 13th we have a fundraiser breakfast the Keota Pool Advocates are sponsoring to raise some money, we’re trying to build a new swimming pool in Keota.”
The Keota Pool Advocates have raised over $500,000 for a new pool to replace the existing one located near the Lagos Acres Golf and Country Club which has been closed since 2018. The group is also exploring grant possibilities for the project’s total estimated cost of $1.2 million. They will be selling garage sale items themselves at the pool Friday and Saturday.
