The Washington Chamber of Commerce congratulated the local H&R Block office on their new location on the downtown square Thursday.

The tax preparation office moved from their previous location around the corner on South Iowa Avenue to their new space at 101 West Washington Street this past December, and are expected to stay there for many years to come as they signed a 10-year lease. Several chamber ambassadors toured the new office and helped Manager Terri Bain and other staff cut the ceremonial ribbon. Bain says they are excited to be closer to the downtown traffic and events with their new location. While Thursday happened to be what’s traditionally known as Tax Day, the H&R Block staff will be working full time until May 17th as the federal income tax filing deadline was extended to that date this year, and the state filing deadline was extended to June 1st.
