The Washington High School cheerleaders are looking to build greater school spirit and help make better use of items that might be left unworn in your closet with a Demon clothing drive.
The cheerleaders are collecting Demon apparel for students who don’t have any, and sophomore Molly Klinzman says the clothing drive came out of conversations had among the cheerleaders, “We were discussing a lot of happenings in the community and how people are having a harder time during COVID. And we thought that a good way to help out would be to donate Demon clothing to kids who don’t have Demon clothing, because it’s a good way to keep school spirit up and keep everybody happy and excited for football, basketball, whatever it may be and help them have a way to feel like they’re part of the community more.”
Donations can be left at the high school until May 15th, and then the clothing will be quarantined for a few days and washed before being distributed at all the school buildings later that month. This clothing drive is the latest example of the Demon cheerleaders’ community outreach, as they held a hat day fundraiser earlier this year to raise funds for Relay for Life, and they typically hold an elementary cheerleading camp in the fall, though it was cancelled last year because of COVID-19.
