The Mid-Prairie girls soccer team takes the pitch in Wellman for the first time in 2021 tonight when they welcome Solon. Mid-Prairie is 3-1 on the season, winners of three straight after a 6-1 victory over Cedar Valley Christian Friday in Alburnett. Against the Huskies, Mid-Prairie was led by Esther Hughes with four goals. On the year, Mid-Prairie is led by Hughes with 10 goals, fourth most in class 1A. Kaitlin Martin leads Mid-Prairie with four assists on the season and in goal, Emily Swartzentruber has worked 145 minutes, stopping 13 shots with a 65% save percentage.
Solon enters play with a 2-2 record. The Spartans fell to Beckman Catholic on Friday 1-0. For the year, the Spartans are led by Stella Mesch and Morgan Link each with five goals. Those two are also the team leaders with two assists apiece. In goal, Alex Paisley has worked 320 minutes, making 15 saves for a 71.4% save percentage. Solon has won five straight against Mid-Prairie including an 8-0 victory in 2016 when they last met. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. in Wellman.
