Bouncing back from a hard fought loss last week is exactly what the Washington girls’ soccer team did on Monday when they braved near freezing conditions and blanked Southeast Conference foe Fairfield by a 4-0 tally.
The Demons got on the board in the 24th minute when Greta Rothe picked up her sixth goal of the season. That 1-0 advantage stayed true until early in the second half when senior Emma Calderon found the back of the net for the first time in her career. Trina Griffin added insurance late with her ninth and 10th goal of the season to put the game to bed. Griffin and Rothe each added an assist while Elyse Hunt and Alex Murphy combined for seven saves in goal.
Washington improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the league. They return to the pitch tomorrow at conference leading Mount Pleasant (4-0).
