The annual Hillcrest Academy FFA “Farmer Feed” returns tomorrow after a one-year absence due to its COVID cancellation last year.

FFA Chapter President Senior London Schrock says the event is a salute to farmers, but anyone hungry for breakfast from 7 to 8 a.m. in Kalona is welcome to attend. It’s all-you-can eat pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage with coffee, milk and juice also available for a free will donation. Schrock says proceeds come back to their chapter, “The money we fund raise will help pay for expenses associated with competing in competitions, sub-districts, the state convention, national convention, solo judging in the fall, dues for membership in the FFA organization. All the stuff raised goes back into giving us the funds to compete and being an organization.”

Hillcrest FFA members participated in the State FFA Leadership Convention this week, earning gold for ag biotechnology, and bronze for ag sales.

Seating for the Farmer Feed is scheduled to be outdoors to maintain social distancing, but Schrock says they’re prepared to move indoors to the school cafeteria if temperatures are too cold. Masks will be required when attendees are not eating. The event raises about $500 annually for the Hillcrest FFA.
