
In the middle of four meets in a six day span, the Washington boys’ golf team has been busy and has found success on the links.
On Thursday in Fairfield, the Demons placed second in the quadrangular with a nine-hole score of 172 to beat Mount Pleasant for the first time this year with a 173. Fairfield won the meet with a 158. Freshman Roman Roth was runner-up meet medalist with a 37, John Prochaska 43, Luke Beenblossom 44, and Teague Mayer 48.
In a tuneup for conference, Washington hosted an 18-hole meet on Saturday with the Southeast Conference competing. The Demons were second out of five with a 354 only behind Mount Pleasant’s 349. Roth went low to capture medalist honors by four strokes carding a 36 in the front nine and 40 back nine for a 76 total. Isaac Vetter finished with a 90, Mayer 93, and Prochaska 95.
Last night, the orange and black traveled to Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison and beat the Bloodhounds 182-203 in a nine-hole contest. Roth fired the best score of 40, Mayer had a 45, Vetter 45, and Grant Sobaski 52.
The Demons continue their busy week tonight in Oskaloosa at Edmundson Golf Course.
