Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with recent vandalism that occurred in Mount Pleasant.
KCII previously reported that the department had received several calls beginning Wednesday alleging that individuals had gained access to rooftops in the downtown square area and threw items down to the street area causing significant damage to businesses. Mount Pleasant Police Chief Lyle Murray announces that his department received assistance from numerous business owners and local citizens that led to the arrest of the three male juveniles, ranging from 12 to 14 years old. They have all been charged with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. One juvenile was also charged with threats of terrorism, a class D felony, and first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, for allegedly threatening to shoot up a school and making statements about blowing up an officer’s house.
Murray thanks everyone who helped with the investigation, and the quick conclusion was a direct result of the cooperation and assistance by the local community. There are pending charges on the two other juveniles at this time. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
