The Washington Middle School is expanding their fifth annual talent show for the public to enjoy in the downtown square this month.

The “Washington Middle’s School’s Got Talent Show” will be taking place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday May 18th at Central Park, with food vendors including El Gringo Loco, Cheryl’s Ice Cream, and Eaton Good Kettlecorn who will be giving a portion of their proceeds to the middle school to help put on this event.

Choir teacher Cailee Wenger says they will also have copies of students’ art on display throughout the park, and typically 20-40 solo and ensemble acts audition for this show, “They’re excited, they’re especially excited about the food trucks this year but they are nervous about the public aspect of it. They keep asking me if their friends will be there and I said, ‘It depends on if you invite them, it depends on if they know about it.’ But they are kind of anxious because not only are they performing in a public aspect, but we have only had a few concerts this year and so this has been a year like no other. They just haven’t had the chance to really get comfortable on stage and now it’s a new stage that they’ll have to take.”

The public is encouraged to bring their own chairs, and a free will donation will be accepted to help support this program. There is also a virtual silent auction leading up to the event, which you can find here. In case of rain, the talent show will be held on May 24th.
