
By the slimmest of margins, the Columbus Community girls’ soccer team protected their home field on Tuesday by welcoming Central Lee for a conference matchup and the Wildcats held on for a 3-2 victory.
Juvixsa Valdez picked up her 12th and 13th goal of the season to lead the offense and Abby Acosta also found the back of the net. The team had 12 shots including seven on goal in the contest. Alynna Leos did her part at the other end with 10 saves. This marks the second straight win over the Hawks (4-7), as the Wildcats traveled to Donnellson last week and won 5-2.
Columbus improves to 6-3 overall, 4-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference, and next gets on the pitch Tuesday against Wapello.
